Anniversary Appeal

Police are renewing their appeal for information on the first anniversary of David Currier’s death.

David Currier, aged 35, was found dead at his home at 285a Birmingham Road, Lickey End, Bromsgrove, just after 11am on Saturday 7 February, 2009.

While it is has been confirmed that he died from a stab wound to his leg, the full circumstances surrounding his death are still not known, and the coroner recorded an open verdict in August 2009.

Detective Superintendent Steve Cullen from West Mercia Police explained: “Despite an extensive police investigation last year, we have not been able to establish exactly what happened between the night of Friday 6th February and the morning of Saturday 7th February when David Currier was found dead in his home."

It's thought his 6 year old son had spent the night alone in the house with the body - police found him sitting at the top of the stairs sucking his thumb.

“It’s been a very difficult year for his family, coping with the initial shock of his death and with not knowing how or why it happened.

“We firmly believe that someone out there knows more about how David Currier died and it may be that a year after his death, they are ready to pass this information on.

“We are urging anyone who was at the Birmingham Road address in the run up to David’s death or who has any information at all that they have not yet passed on to police to get in touch at the earliest opportunity.

“There is still a substantial reward on offer for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with this inquiry, so please do call us on 0300 333 3000 or anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"Even the smallest detail could lead to the breakthrough we need and the answers that will help David’s family move forward with their lives.”

As part of the anniversary appeal, police will be displaying posters across the Bromsgrove district urging anyone with information to get in touch and highlighting the £10,000 reward on offer.

Flyers featuring the appeal will also be distributed to those living near the Birmingham Road address over the coming days.
